When I decided to start this blog, I wanted to touch on all the ways self-care meets magic, while at the same time revitalizing my own connection to my practice. (Let’s face it the Everyday Witch doesn’t have time to spend every night under the moonlight)

Mindful Morning Brew

Begin your day with clear intentions and positivity through this mindful morning ritual.  

Think of a positive affirmation to set the tone for a magical day. If you’re brewing from home, the best way to do this is to put your intentions into the coffee grounds (or tea leaves) before your kettle starts. That way all of the brewing is absorbing your intentions and your drinking a full cup or your magic. 

My favorite routine right now is to crush pieces of cinnamon sticks into my coffee grounds and think “Patience and Understanding.” On the busiest of work days I have asked for a cup of “Get Sh*t Done,” and THOSE have been my most productive days ever! 

For my drive-thru coffee witches, I’ve got a solution for you. Carry a marker (color of choice) in your car. When you’re safe to do so, draw a sigil for your intentions and recite your affirmation to yourself. A sigil for this work doesn’t need to be crazy it can be as simple as a $ for that bonus or a * for success. All that is important is that you are drinking a cup of your intentions.

Self-Care Spells & Glamor Potions

My goodness you are gorgeous!

Please share your secrets and tell me what magical potion you have surely curated from the forest of youth to have such a beautiful presence 😍 You’d best remind yourself and believe in these words of wisdom every time you do your morning routine. Brush your teeth and remember how much better the world is with your smile in it! 

As a treat, transform your self-care routine into a magical experience with your favorite product or potion. Saving a special potion ritual is a great way to realign yourself at the beginning or end of a busy week. This also doesn’t HAVE to be a glamor product. With the seasons changing, I have been taking time to focus on my eczema prone skin and have personally been loving this DIY Aloe Vera Moisturizer recipe by Lavender Gypsy that uses Lavender and Frankincense essential oils.

Daily Meditation Moments

Breathe! You kinda have to do it to like, live.

If you’re stressed this will work, if you’re blessed then you’ll enjoy this too! Take a sticky note and draw a box. (After this exercise, put this sticky note up as a daily reminder to take this moment to yourself when you’re feeling pressure.) Follow the breathing diagram here;

Breathing Exercise

Step 1 – Start by slowly exhaling all of your air. 

Step 2 – Trace your finger along the top of the box and gently inhale through your nose to a slow count of 4.

Step 3 – While you trace your finger down the right side of the box, hold this full breath for a count of 4.  

Step 4 – Gently exhale through your mouth for a count of 4, while tracing the bottom line of the box. 

Step 5 – Rest for a count of 4 as your finger traces the last side of the box and you return to the top of the box.

Repeat these steps to slow your breathing and focus on the feelings and sensations of each breath. This is a great example of how meditation can ground and center your energy throughout the day. Easy meditation techniques can be seamlessly integrated into your routine, offering moments of peace and clarity.

Evening Enchantments

That don’t require a poisoned apple

Wind down with evening rituals that promote restful sleep and inner harmony. Evenings are something that I am working on taking back for myself, as I currently battle the ever daunting laundry pile that has miraculously taken up my side of the bed… Nonetheless, there was once a time when my bed-time routine was my favorite time of day. Each night I set aside time for reading before bed because that’s my favorite self-care practice. I love a good bedtime story, and (unless it is a book that I can’t for the life of me put down) it sets me up for better dreams. 

If reading is not your forte, bedtime affirmations and journaling can also create a tranquil routine. Here is an affordable journal option with some sweet witchy prompts to guide you along. I greatly recommend having a daily gratitude or appreciation journal for reflecting on the day’s blessings before bed. It is something that has even helped me take on the next day with more optimism because I go to bed with a positive mindset.

Delve deeper into your self-care journey with weekly wellness practices. This can be something that you’re actioning, intentionally giving yourself a break from, or even something you’re learning! If you’re looking for something witchy to learn, tarot can be a great place to start.  

Tarot card readings can enhance self-awareness and connection to your practice. If you’re a beginner, I know that traditional tarot cards can be overwhelming. My favorite (and first) deck was Gypsy Fortunes by Lady Lorelei. I was surprised to find it on amazon and I’ll put a link here. This Sun Deck is a Lenormand Deck, long story short – it has 36 cards instead of 78 and symbols instead of suits. I’ve always felt that these symbols provide more detailed readings and are so intuitive. Exploring tarot has been a profound journey of self-discovery for me. Since I’ve started building on this skill, I’ve gotten more skilled at doing personal readings and readings for friends and family. It has also inspired me to start learning other divination skills.
